Dancing, A New Olympic Sport!

Did you know that Breaking, one of the disciplines in Dancesport is one of the new Olympic sports which will be featured in the Paris 2024 Games? In simple words, DanceSport, which is competitive ballroom dancing and other disciplines, was recognized as an Olympic sport in 1997, and is finally making its appearance at the Olympics! Firstly, it was a pleasure to be part of the 2nd Anniversary and Web Launch of DanceSport Sri Lanka the national governing body for DanceSport in Sri Lanka on the 27th of March at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo (the official website of DanceSport Sri Lanka is dancesportlanka.com ) The formal proceedings commenced at 4.30 p.m. with dignitaries representing DanceSport Sri Lanka, the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka and fortune Entertainment the Sole Sponsor of DanceSport Sri Lanka. DanceSport Sri Lanka 2nd Anniversary and Website Launch

Colombo, 29 March 2023 – DanceSport Sri Lanka, the national governing body for DanceSport in Sri Lanka which is recognized by the International Olympic Committee as an Olympic Sport, celebrated their second-year anniversary and launched its website on the 27 th of March at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo. The formal proceedings commenced at 4.30 p.m. with dignitaries representing DanceSport Sri Lanka, the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka and Mr. Zang Hong of Fortune Entertainment, the Sole Sponsor for the event and Mr. Kamal Munasinghe, the Area Vice President of Cinnamon Grand Hotel. ශ්‍රී ලංකා ක්‍රීඩා නර්තනයට දෙවසරයි

DanceSport Sri Lanka on the road to Paris 2024 and beyond

  DanceSport Sri Lanka launched its official website on their 2nd anniversary at the Cinnamon Grand on 27th March. Paris 2024 has taken the opportunity provided by the IOC in the Olympic Agenda 2020 to propose additional sports to enhance its programme and overall concept. The IOC’s keen interest to set a new standard for inclusive, gender-balanced and youth-centred games saw Paris 2024 submit its proposal to the IOC to integrate four new sports that are closely associated with youth and reward creativity and athletic performance. These sports are breaking (a discipline of DanceSport), sport climbing, skateboarding and surfing.
